GPASEABOTS to provide free training on marine drones

Updated: Oct 11, 2022

GPASEABOTS, the GPAINNOVA group company specializing in naval robotics and technologies for the exploration and conservation of the marine environment, will give a free course on aquatic drones. The training, financed by Barcelona City Council, has the participation of Submón, whose activity revolves around projects for the conservation, study, and dissemination of the marine environment.

The aim of the course is to promote the continuous training and professional improvement of young people and those at risk of social and occupational exclusion. Designed by engineers, it provides the necessary knowledge to carry out operations with Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USV).

Studying and preserving the aquatic environment

Thanks to this course on aquatic drones, participants will become familiar with their applications and those technologies used in the exploration and preservation of the marine environment. They will also learn what data can be gathered from them and in which way, as well as how to operate drones and plan actions for data acquisition. To put what they have learned into practice, students will participate in water clean-up missions using drones.

This training program will take place from February 14th to March 3rd 2022, with 200 teaching hours, divided into 150 hours of theory and 50 hours of training, from Monday to Friday. The classes will be face-to-face and held at GPASEABOTS’ offices in Barcelona (C/ Maracaibo, 1). The school hours will be from 09:00 AM to 1:00 PM, plus four intensive training sessions.

Limited places available

To access this program, those interested can contact GPASEABOTS until February 13th, through one of the forms of contact indicated below. Although there are no access requirements, there may be a selection process depending on the demand, as places are limited. The aim is to prioritize those people who need more support in their academic and employment career.

This course counts on the support of the 5th Call for Subsidies for the Socioeconomic Promotion of the Territory, promoted by the Barcelona City Council.

About GPASEABOTS

Established in Barcelona in May 2019 as a spin-off of the GPAINNOVA technology platform, GPASEABOTS focuses its activity on the development of solutions based on marine robotics, such as anchor buoys equipped with a technology to gather microplastics, hybridization, and automation technologies for recreational vessels and Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USVs) for sheltered waters.

In 2019, a few months after its creation, GPASEABOTS was granted the Fuera de Serie (Exceptional) Design & Innovation Awards, in the category of Sustainability, organized by the Spanish press house Unidad Editorial, and the 2nd Award at the Nautic Tech International Investment Forum. In March last year, GPASEABOTS received the Innovative SME seal from the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation.
